Twelve
production lines, each continuously producing up to 80 spools
of monofilament fiber, are monitored in real time. During
each production cycle, which can take from 20 minutes to 8
hours, fiber diameters are constantly sampled using a laser
micrometer. Measurements are compared to process tolerances,
process statistics are calculated, run charts are updated,
and defects are noted. Process data is stored in a remote
SQLServer database.
